About Comfrey

Used since about 400 BC Comfrey is one of natures greatest medicinal healing herbs. Throughout time Comfrey has acquired an unrivalled reputation as a curative herb, used for healing wounds and broken bones.

The name Comfrey is derived from the Latin word “Conferre” meaning “bring together” or “grow together”. Back in Medieval times it was commonly referred to as Knitbone and was often called the heal-all herb.

An amazing all rounder, Comfrey ointment is famed for aiding the rapid healing of a vast array of skin injuries, broken bones and fractures. Comfreys most important ingredient is the substance Allatoin, which is believed to be a cell proliferator, able to strengthen skin tissue, promoting the growth and multiplication of cells and thus speeding healing.
